Its work has been recognised nationally for contributing significantly to the well-being and cultural development of the region and its communities.
Judith Leigh, speaking for the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation said: “We are thrilled to be involved in the campaign to redevelop The People’s Theatre . We hope that local businesses will give their support to the project which will see this important local venue offering an even wider range of cultural events, accessible to all.” Trusthouse Charitable Foundation is an independent grant making foundation, supporting projects throughout the UK. In 2013/14, it made over 300 grants totaling £2.1m.
Tony Childs, for the People’s Theatre, said: “This is a very real Christmas present for the theatre. We've still got a long way to go, so we need all the help we can get, but this marks a significant milestone for us.”
Sarah Scott, who plays Fairy L’Oreal in Rapunzel, added: “It's great news for the Rapunzel team and for all those who love the People’s Theatre.
